Description MQ-8 is a Metal oxide semiconductor (MOS) type sensor from the series of MQ gas sensors (MQ-2, MQ-3, MQ-4, and so on). The module is highly sensitive to Hydrogen gas and can be used to detect any leaks or presence of Hydrogen gas in the air. Features High sensitivity to hydrogen gas (H₂). Detects hydrogen concentrations ranging from 100 to 10000ppm. Provides both analog and digital output signals. Fast response and recovery times for timely detection. Simple drive circuit for easy implementation. Long service life with stable performance. Adjustable sensitivity via onboard potentiometer. Compact design suitable for various applications. Specifications Parameter Value Sensor Type Semiconductor (SnO₂) Target Gas Hydrogen (H₂) Detection Range 100–10000ppm Operating Voltage 5VDC Heater Voltage (VH) 5.0V±0.1V AC or DC Load Resistance (RL) Adjustable Heater Resistance (RH) 29Ω±3Ω (Room Temp) Heater Consumption ≤900mW Sensitivity (S) Rs(in air)/Rs(1000ppm H₂) ≥5 Preheat Time ≥24 hours Operating Temperature -10°C to 50°C Operating Humidity ≤95% RH PINOUT Pin Function Description VCC Input Power Supply Provides the power supply to the sensor (typically 5V). GND Supply Ground Ground connection for the sensor module. DO Digital Output Provides a digital output signal (high or low) depending on hydrogen gas concentration. AO Analog Output Outputs a variable analog voltage that corresponds to the hydrogen gas concentration. Applications Hydrogen gas leak detectors in residential and industrial settings. Safety systems in hydrogen-powered vehicles and fuel cells. Industrial process monitoring involving hydrogen gas. Environmental monitoring for hydrogen emissions. Integration into microcontroller-based projects for hydrogen detection. Package Contents 1x MQ-8 Hydrogen Gas Sensor Module.
